Armed and very dangerous; an elite collection of secret agents must track down and eliminate deadly threats over the course of twelve months, no matter what the risk or personal cost. But when the stakes are high and there's deception at every turn, the line between hero and villain starts to blur.
Year of Spies is an exciting twelve part thriller web series set to unfold over the course of a year. Each 'mission' is set and themed around a different month.
The series is created and directed by British film-maker Chris Stone, the man behind the multi award-winning Victorian vampire web series Blood and Bone China that became an internet sensation on YouTube in 2011. Not one to repeat himself, Chris has designed Year of Spies with a fresh approach to web series as a whole. Year of Spies will be made up of individual self-contained mini stories set in the same 'universe' rather than one long continuous narrative.
A wealth of up and coming British and international talent are set to star in and work on Year of Spies. Each 'mission' will feature a different cast and director Chris Stone will be working with renowned Switzerland based composer Yannick 'Goldenzen' Zenhäusern to create a beautifully tense musical score for every new mission.
This new series was inspired by Chris' love of spy fact and fiction; 'The Man From Uncle', 'The Ipcress File', 'North by North West' and the James Bond film franchise are firm favourites. The very reason Chris got into film-making in the first place was to hopefully direct a 007 film one day! Chris had the idea to set a thriller story over 12 months in 12 parts and broadcast it on the internet pre-YouTube, way back in 2005 before he left university. Back then it was titled Run. He never let go of the idea and has been waiting for the right time to start on the project.
With big budget spy movies set to be released such as Spectre, Mission Impossible 5, The Man From Uncle and Kingsman of the Secret Service, 2015 is truly going to be the YEAR OF SPIES.
